USDA Base Acre Increase Opportunity

USDA has announced this week through the Farm Service Agency that eligible landowners have until June the 1st through August 31 to review and consider base acre increases on farms enrolled in the ARC program that’s agricultural risk coverage or the price loss coverage the PLC programs signed into law by President Donald Trump on July the 4th.

This act allow provides landowners with the opportunity to update and increase base acres in preparation for enrollment in the program. These are there were 30 million new base acres added in the Big Beautiful Bill act earlier this year. The ARC and PLC are cornerstone commodity safety net programs that provide financial protection to farmers when the market prices or revenues decline.

These programs help producers manage risk and maintain economic viability in today’s agricultural world. It also is challenging the market and considers weather conditions. This is the first chance for adding base acres since 2002.
