Cattle producers are proud of the work that has been funded by the Florida Cattle Enhancement Board and we sat down with Ken Griner, past president of the Florida Cattlemen’s Association and past chairman of the Enhancement Board to learn more.
“We are being exceptionally responsible with the money, probably, in my opinion, more responsible than most any state money spent because we guard it like it was our own because it is what is feeding a lot of the research. It gives us as cattlemen a chance to really make people hone in and focus on things that are important to us and I know, as you know, the University of Florida, Georgia, whoever, these schools anymore are so much predicated on research dollars, what professor can bring in research money” said Griner.
“This kind of gives us our own little, you know, hammer to go to schools and say, we got things we want you to look at. So, I just think, as it turned out, it just turned out to be a win-win, not only for, you know, cattlemen for the state, I think it helps us with our land-grant institutions, remind them that we are important too. You know, we are not just, we’re not just cattlemen, we are directly having an impact on their budget” Griner added.
Griner also said, “So I’m just really, I’m proud of it, I’m proud of the way we do it, and I’m proud of the things that we’ve been able to oversee and the way we’ve done it.”
