From the Alabama Farmers Federation: MONTGOMERY, Ala., March 31— Alabama farmers expect to plant fewer acres of cotton and corn and devote more land to peanuts, according to the Prospective Plantings Report released today by the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). Planting Intentions Report Has Cotton Acres Lower in 2015

The 2015 USDA Planting Intentions Report was released today. In Georgia, acreage is expected to total 1.10 million acres, down from 1.38 million acres last year. In Alabama, growers intend to plant 300,000 acres, down 50,000 acres from last year. Florida growers expect to plant 90,000 acres, down 17,000 acres from 2014.
