Farmers need to be ready to report their acreage that they planted this year by July 15th at the Farm Service Agency.

The Farm Service Agency each year collects that information. It’s a major deadline for most crops, so you can participate in any of the programs, but acreage reporting deadlines may vary in some counties and others in states by crop. According to the FSA Administrator Bill Beam, acreage reporting is a major task that producers complete each year, and we owe it to the producers we serve to make it as painless and seamless as possible.

So today they’re going to announce a new program. It’s called the Acreage Reporting Modernization Pilot Program. That is a foundational part of the Administration’s One Farmer, One File effort.

FSA is focusing on creating new, efficient, consistent, and consumer-friendly acreage reporting experience for all our growers and also for FSA employees. After the spring planting is complete, producers should make an appointment with their FSA office to complete their crop report. Also, they said our goal is to move away from paper maps to an electronic interface that simplifies the process for producers and for all their staff.

But that is coming up in the future. Go report your acreage at your FSA office.
