At the recent Florida Cattlemen’s Association Convention, Southeast AgNet was able to catch up with the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association President, Gene Copenhaver. Copenhaver commented on the upcoming NCBA meeting. Here is what Copenhaver had to say.
“Our summer business meeting is July 12th through the 14th and at that meeting it’s not as quite as big as our cattle con meetings, but it’s actually our business meeting where we get a lot of resolutions passed, a lot of things discussed, and new ideas discussed the whole week. But we’re looking forward to having a good crowd there in Denver this year, we’re back in Denver, and we’ve been to San Diego the last three years so we’re looking forward to getting back to Denver,” said Copenhaver.
NCBA President Copenhaver also shared his thoughts on New World Screw Worm.
“You know, we were expecting New World Screw Worm to be here a year ago, and so this year is giving us a lot more time to plan for the New World Screw Worm. Our Texas affiliates have done a great job along with USDA and Secretary Rollins getting prepared for that, and we have products that are working, so it’s a little better outlook I think than we were looking at in the 60s. We still need to get our fly, throw fly facilities built, and I think that’s going to have them all built by this time next year, so looking forward to that,” Copenhaver added.
