June might be dairy month, but it’s all about pork today and tomorrow at the World Pork Expo. We talked about this on our report yesterday.

The 38th year the Expo held and always in Des Moines. This year, 10 foreign countries represented, many from South America, where they now have corn production to support expanding confinement operations. Iowa produces over 40 million hogs a year, clearly the number one state in the U.S. overall at 75 million, ranks number two worldwide behind, of course, number one China.

China produces over 205 million head a year. National Pork Producers Council estimates over 570,000 jobs created by the industry, production, processing, and distribution of pork.
