The Florida Cattle Enhancement Board has provided production research opportunities for the Florida cattle industry. We caught up with Gene Lollis, former Florida Cattlemen’s Association President and current Director of Ranch Operations at the Archbold Research Station, Buck Island Ranch to learn about his experience with the Florida Cattle Enhancement Board.

“The Enhancement Board has been huge for our state. Over the years, had a lot more engagement with it than I do currently. What you find when you’re, I always say I’m a has-been. Once you’re a has-been, they kind of turn you out the pasture, but they always bring you back for something,” said Lollis.

“The Enhancement Board has been very, very productive for our state and our industry. It allows us to do that production type research that’s needed on the cattle side of things, whether it be looking at forage or marketing type situations. It’s really been good. I think that goes all the way back when Wes Williamson was president, and I think you’ve had Wes on the show, and he probably told you about the history of that, which was very huge, a big plus for our industry,” said Lollis.
