Georgia Agriculture Commissioner
Gary Black

“We are extremely thankful for the work of the General Assembly during last week’s special session and appreciate the Governor’s quick signature to the amended budget that provides roughly $270 million towards critical support for our agricultural sector and rural communities after Georgia’s worst natural disaster. Our farmers in Georgia are proud of their contributions to the state’s economy as they have long led in the production of several renowned commodities. Unfortunately after Hurricane Michael hit during our most vulnerable time, we also had the dubious distinction of leading in the devastation of some of our most prominent crops. But thanks to the leadership of both chambers and legislators from all over the state, we can now better support our farm families as they work to rebuild, replant and recover.”
