(Ag Institute of Florida) – Do you know someone who has been an outstanding spokesman for Florida agriculture over the past year? Someone who has made a positive contribution to the industry by speaking up and sharing information and ideas with opinion leaders or the general public to help improve public perception and understanding of our industry?
The Agriculture Institute of Florida is seeking nominations for its AG-Vocate Award which will recognize a single individual for his or her efforts to communicate effectively on behalf of the Florida agriculture industry. Candidates for the award must be affiliated with the state’s agricultural industry either as a farmer, rancher, producer or grower or as a representative of an affiliated industry. Their communication activities should be above and beyond the normal responsibilities of their job or position and have taken place between August 2012 and the present.
Previous winners of the AG-Vocate Award were Mac Carraway of SMR Farms, Joe Wright of V&W Farms, Bob Spencer of West Coast Tomato, and Keith Truenow of Lake Jem Farms.
The deadline for nominations is September 6, 2013. Complete information and entry forms are available on the Ag Institute of Florida website, www.aginstitute.org. This year’s AG-Vocate Award will be presented at the Institute’s annual meeting in October.
The Agriculture Institute of Florida is an organization of communications professionals, individual farmers and producers from a diverse blend of agricultural associations, commodity producers and ag-related businesses.
