Who buys peanuts from America? The number one buyer this past year from January through August of 2026, it shows China was the number one buyer.

They bought 40% of all the peanuts that went out of the country. Amazing how much they use in making peanut oil. They bought 181,000 metric tons, almost 41% of the U.S. export.

Mexico was number two. They bought 24 to 25% of the market. Canada was number three.

They bought 20%, most of theirs are going into peanut butter. Number five on the top five is Japan. Japan only bought 3.17% of the market.

That’s followed by the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, South Korea, and Denmark. But overall, exports have not been increasing. If you take China out of the picture, we would be down for the coming year.

So, we’re looking forward to selling more abroad right now, but hopefully China’s got a crop coming along and would take up part of that market. Peanut farmers invest in the American Peanut Council to sell those peanuts, working with the Foreign Agricultural Service.
