Markets are back open today after the Columbus Day holiday, we’re keeping an eye on Wall Street and CME Group in Chicago. It looks like combines rolled well into the night across a wide area of the Midwest, but not in this area. Heavy rains flooding, halting the harvest and even some college football games.
But you would not be surprised overall to see corn and soybean harvest progress tonight surpass or even be above the five-year average. Overall, this second week of October often has the biggest percentage advance in the harvest. 2020 holds the record, a harvest advancing 23% in one week.
This is the bottom-line report. Grains ended strong last week, it may be difficult for December corn to move much above 5-15, 5-18. November soybeans are held 13-15 or better.
