
Wall Street certainly started the fourth quarter on a hot streak. Nasdaq and S&P 500 have set all-time highs this week. The Dow, though, still lagging some 3,000 points away from its 52-week high.
The dollar takes a breather after reaching 12-month highs. Crude oil, you might say, also taking a breather of a different kind off their recent highs and now near six-week lows. The quarterly earnings season gets into high gear next week, which will start on Tuesday.
Monday is a holiday. Columbus Day markets will be closed. Corn and soybean harvest off to their slowest start since the soggy fall of 2019.
But bottom-line analysts point out the second week of October can oftentimes provide the biggest advance, the largest such. On record happened the second week of October 2020. The harvest advanced 23 percent in one week.
