We’re keeping an eye on Wall Street and interest rates as we move through early October. Odds of a Fed hike have eased since this time a week ago. CME FedWatch now shows 35% chance of another quarter point hike when the Fed meets next month.

That’s down from nearly 50% this time last week. Traders, though, are still expecting a hike in December. And they say 75% chance now another hike, maybe two, during 2027.

All this said, third quarter performance showed the S&P 500 gained 2% during the quarter. NASDAQ gained 2.5%. The Dow underperformed July, August, and September, losing 2.7%. This is the bottom-line report. We’ll begin to get quarterly earnings reports now.

Banks and financial institutions lead the way. Agricultural companies will come much later.
