Cotton Market Updates

Let’s look at the cotton for this week.

It looks like the cotton market which jumped up to 93 cents a pound has stopped. It’s lost 10 cents a pound in the last week. The 2026 crop for cotton was cut 410,000 bales from the August estimate according to USDA.

Both acres as harvested and yield were reduced. The U.S. exports for 2026 crop marketing year were unchanged at 12.3 million bales. That’s the same as 2026.

Turkey and Pakistan production was dropped somewhat. That’s our competition for the U.S. and their imports raised accordingly. Brazil’s production was raised 250,000 bales.

Their exports increased and the world demand used remained unchanged from the August estimate. So no change right now and the 90 cents has all dropped down to 78 or 80 cents right now on the market. Farmers are getting ready to go into the field and hopefully they can have booked and contracted some of the 93 cents a pound instead of the present 78 to 80 cents a pound.
