Good news from Washington. The Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry has advanced the Agricultural Act of 2026 out of committee. The legislation complements the earlier, called the Farm, Food, and National Security Act and the Big Beautiful Bill which had passed earlier, which included most of the support for crops. Now what’s in this 2.0 that’s waiting to be passed? According to G.T. Thompson and Senator Boozman, the legislation will reinforce support for agricultural export markets which is a top priority for the U.S. industry.
It includes provisions supporting nutrition and emergency food assistance programs which have or not in that earlier bill. With the current state of the U.S. economy, we appreciate Chairman Boozman, he said, leadership and focus on the remainder of the Farm Bill which is ready to move to the President’s desk. This legislation will provide certainty to American producers and includes provisions which will benefit the entire industry in agriculture.
We urge the Senate Ag Committee now to support this important provision and pass the Agricultural Act of 2026 and let’s move on with the Farm Bill. This is eight years now since we’ve been working on a five-year Farm Bill.
