Well, how are the peanut markets doing? According to the American Peanut Council, the latest data shows that the U.S. is holding steady despite some headwinds.
They said total exports for July 26 were 12,944 metric tons. This is up from last year’s 10,703 metric tons during the month of July. Also, the year before that, 24 was 10,545.
So, year to date, total exports are now down to 82,377 metric tons. That is down 2.75% from last year. So it was not a big drop, but still up from 2024, which was about 75,000 tons.
Blanched peanuts and in-shell exports are up around 2.5%. Kernels are down slightly, 1.75%. But year after year, up 29% is the amount for the month of July. Peanut butter has been down dramatically for this month, down 50%. But year to date, by a smaller margin of about 15% on peanut butter is down right now.
Process exports are down around the same margin, by about 11%. But overall, the market needs a boost as they are getting ready to bring the peanuts out of the field for the next year.
