
This afternoon’s monthly cattle on feed report expected to show more cattle on feed, perhaps more important, more cattle being fed longer. Average estimates show the cattle on feed up one to two percent from a year ago. Bottom-line analysts add that the number of cattle on feed more than 150 days will be over three and a half million head.
That’s 18 percent more than a year ago. Cattle on feed 120 days or more look to total over 5 million and that’s 14 percent higher than this time a year ago. As usual, debate on placements of cattle, but the average estimate went down three to four percent.
