USDA in Washington has lowered the estimate on the peanut crop.
Crop production report from Federal State Inspection Service and USDA has cut the 2026 U.S. peanut crop from 5.27 billion pounds, cut it 152,000 pounds since August because of lower yield and lower planted acres. The smaller crop points to lesser forward balance moving into next year. Overall, planted acres will be 1.41 million acres, that’s down 1% from last month and down 28% from last year.
Also, production is forecast total now at 5.27 billion pounds, that is down 27% from last year. Conditions they said as of September the 1st, the average yield is now dropping as well from 3,956 pounds per acre down to 3,879 pounds per acre, but that is still 111 and 112 pounds per acre more than last year. The peanut market is very quiet right now as farmers move into the field and start harvesting this crop, but the estimate so far has been lowered.
