The Harris County Cattlemen’s Association recently held their hoedown in preparation for their upcoming rodeo benefit. Southeast AgNet spoke with Kit McClung, a member of the rodeo committee, to learn a little bit more about the upcoming September rodeo.
“Miss Elizabeth, this is going to be our 37th annual Harris County Cattlemen’s Rodeo right here at Mike Tracy Arena in Hamilton, Georgia. Now, over the course of the two nights, September 25 and 26, Friday and Saturday, we will have about 5,000 to 6,000 people coming down here to enjoy this event. It is a family-friendly event. Your kids are so welcome here,” McClung said.
“We’ll have the mechanical bull. We’ll have a few other bounce houses and things for the kids to do. The gates open at six o’clock, so you want to come early. The rodeo starts at eight, but from six to eight, we’ve got food vendors. We’ve got the mechanical bull. We’ve got bounce houses for the kids. We’ve got Italian ice. We’ve got so many things going on, so most people start coming on in right around six. Now, tickets for the event are about $20 for adults and $10 for children, and we do have a military discount,” McClung added.
“The tickets are already available online at hccaonline.com. Several of the events that you’ll see down here are going to be everybody’s favorite, the bull riding! Yeah! All right, don’t forget the Cowgirls Barrel Race, and there’ll be some local girls in that, so it’s so much fun. You can come and cheer on your community, you know, friends and family. We’ll also have the bronc riding, and then the cattle, the calf tow-down,” McClung mentioned.
McClung also said, “We’ll have the steer wrestling, so it is just a night packed with family entertainment. I tell you, we don’t even have alcoholic or tobacco sponsors, because it’s a family event, and we have committed to doing that for 37 years here in Harris County. So, this is like, bring your family, don’t eat before you come.”
“This is the place to come out, grab some great food, funnel cakes, turkey legs, snake bites, you name it, it’ll be right here at the Mike Tracy Arena in Hamilton, Georgia, Friday and Saturday night, September 25 and 26 in Hamilton, right here. Come join us!,” McClung encouraged.
