15 farm families recently were announced as the University of Georgia Peanut Team for their high yield in peanuts last season.
The high yields range from 4,156 pounds up to 6,794 pounds per acre. Many of the high yielding farmers agree that having a good rotation, good quality seed, and good weather conditions make all the difference with their yields. The timing of application for disease is also important, and timing of treating weeds and insect management are key to achieving high yields.
The 2025 Georgia Peanut Achievement Club winner overall was John Gaines Jr. from Baker County, Georgia. He averaged 6,640 pounds per acre on a 100-to-300-acre category. RNA Partnership out of Mitchell County was second.
They had 6,794 pounds per acre in the 300-to-700-acre category. And the big plan field was Sapp Brothers Farm from Mitchell County with 6,275 pounds on peanuts of 700 acres or more. How about that? Tremendous yields last year, and now they’re looking to upgrade that and have a top yield this year if the rain keeps coming.
