Well, the peanut farm group is moving forward with the U.S. peanut crop.
Pegging now is 84 to 85 percent across the network. The five-year average is 84. Crop conditions show one percent very poor, five percent poor, 30 percent fair, 56 good, and eight percent excellent.
We’re showing across the peanut belt that rain is needed, hoping it’ll come sometime in early August because peanuts are pegging down. Some major deadlines coming up that I’d like to remind you of. Agricultural producers are reminded by the Farm Service Agency that August 7th is the deadline to apply for the assistance for specialty crop farmers.
There are some in this tri-state area that need to sign up for that program. August the 12th is the deadline to apply for the Supplemental Disaster Relief Program. We need some disaster relief and funds are available.
And then August 31 is the deadline to review the base allocations for the planning of a ag risk coverage, ACRC, and the PLC price loss coverage. That has got to be done by August 31. Check with your FSA office to make sure yours is ready.
