The Georgia Cotton Commission (GCC) reminds the state’s growers and industry representatives that the commission’s Mid-Year Meeting and University of Georgia (UGA) Cotton Pre-Harvest Workshop is later this month, scheduled for July 29 at the Nessmith-Lane Conference Center in Statesboro.

The commission requests that those interested in attending to pre-register by July 11 to assist with lunch plans. Pre-registration is free.

The conference is designed to provide an update on this year’s cotton season with multiple talks from UGA Extension personnel as well as topics pertaining to the industry’s future. This includes a discussion centered on using business entities in agriculture; planning for 2026 and beyond with Rusty Rumley, senior staff attorney with the National Agricultural Law Center; and marketing cotton, the sustainable fiber of choice with Bev Sylvester, chief marketing officer with Cotton Incorporated.

A lunch program will end the day and include a presentation of the 2025 Georgia Quality Cotton Awards.

More information about the conference can be found on the commission website at georgiacottoncommission.org or at the UGA Cotton Team website at ugacotton.com. Questions may also be directed to the commission office at (478) 988-4235.
