With the 4th of July coming up soon, Michael Smith of the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association encourages consumers to pick beef.

“Well, beef is a naturally healthy protein. It’s full of zinc, iron, and protein,” said Smith.

Smith added, “And it’s, you know, there’s nothing really more American than a good old hamburger, especially on the 4th of July in the summertime on the grill. So we’re all excited here about preparing some delicious beef and we hope everybody else does too. And with this year being the 250th, you know, it’s kind of a big milestone celebration.”

“I don’t think there’d be anything wrong with throwing the steak on the grill either. So it’s always a good time when you can enjoy a steak, especially for a big occasion. And I think America turning 250 is a good occasion,” said Smith.

Smith even shared with us his 4th of July plans saying, “So we’re going to actually do, we’re going to obviously do burgers. We do actually, that’s why I was thinking about it. We’ve got some steaks planned for one night as well. And a friend of mine, we always smoke beef ribs and he’s got a pretty good recipe for that. And so that’s something that we do and we’ve kind of perfected that recipe.”

“He and I love them and now our wives and everybody’s gotten on board with it. So those, the beef ribs are definitely a good, they do really well in the smoker and they pair well with good seasoning and it’s one of my favorites. But for anybody out there, you can go to beefitswhatsfordinner.com and there are tons, tons of delicious beef recipes on there as well,” said Smith.
