
The American Peanut Council and the Peanut Shellers Association held a joint convention this past week at the USA Peanut Congress.
The Hall of Fame was named for this past year. The Hall of Fame award is given to the person that has been a significant, substantial, and long-time standing individual promoting the peanut industry. The winner this year was Gregg Grimsley. Grimsley is the Vice President for Manufacturing for Birdsong Peanuts.
He received the Council’s Hall of Fame award. He was honored for his leadership and volunteer service with Peanut Proud, a humanitarian organization established to unite the peanut industry through charitable service and disaster relief efforts. Since Peanut Proud funding started in 2010, Grimsley has helped coordinate the donation of more than 5.2 million jars of peanut butter to individuals and families affected by natural disasters.
There are also other hardships. He has also supported Peanut Proud’s food safety scholarship program and numerous festivals, including the Peanut Proud Festival held in Blakely, Georgia. Congratulations to Greg Grimsley. He is the Hall of Fame award winner this year in the U.S. peanut industry.
