As beef month has come to an end the Georgia Beef Board reflects on the impacts made around the state from the Beef Burger Week events. Here’s Wyatt Doolittle with the Georgia Beef Board to tell us more.

“One of the most exciting things is watching communities across Georgia rally around one thing that I think all of us can agree on, a really good burger,” said Doolittle.

So, we kicked things off in northeast Georgia with the Northeast Georgia Burger Battle. They had more than a dozen local restaurants going head-to-head, each competing for bragging rights and the title of burger champion. But consumers showed up in a big way.

Participating restaurants sold over 1,800 burgers, representing a 31% increase in burger sales compared to last year,” Doolittle added.

“Now when we’re talking about dollar figures, this translates to $21,000 in direct burger sales to those local economies, bringing new faces through restaurant doors and proving that beef drives business. Next, we headed over to Milledgeville Burger Week where residents and visitors alike explored local restaurants, supported hometown businesses, one burger at a time.

Milledgeville ended up selling over 5,500 burgers,” said Doolittle.

Doolittle finished by saying, “Then came the grand finale, which was Atlanta Burger Week, which experienced its biggest year to date. More than 40 restaurants across Metro Atlanta participated and consumers purchased over 15,000 burgers throughout the week. With featured burgers priced around $12, Atlanta Burger Week generated an estimated $180,000 in direct burger sales alone.”
