Supporting youth is essential to Alabama’s agricultural industry. Randy Moody with The Alabama Cattlemen’s Association, strongly emphasizes the need to support junior cattle producers and provides key information about the upcoming Heifers 4 Youth event.

“Yeah, we’re excited about the youth livestock education portion for the foundation.

It’s Heifers for Youth, and what that entails is that there’s two donated bred heifers to be given away in February at the convention, and all the proceeds that when you buy an opportunity to win those two heifers, all those proceeds go to the Youth Education Fund,” said Moody.

“You know, in today’s world, I think that if we don’t promote and educate our youth into the industry that we’re working and living in, it is vastly shrinking land-wise, youth staying on the farm-wise, and the more that we can educate them and help them understand what this is all about, and when I say lifestyle, some folks, most of the folks that are on the farm today, it’s a second job somewhere else, and in order to maintain the generational values of farming and cattle ranching, we just, I mean, there’s just no other way around it. We have got to make sure our youth are vested into this opportunity,” Moody added.

Moody also said, “The best way to get all the information you need is to go to Alabama Cattlemen’s website, and then it’d be under the Youth Project, and the Cattlemen’s website would be bamabeef.org/heifers4youth. So bamabeef.org/heifers4youth gets you straight to the website. That would give you the pedigrees on the cattle. It’d give you everything that you need to know about the cattle, as well as an opportunity to support the project.”
