The Alabama Cattlemen’s Association is welcoming a new communications intern this summer, and we caught up with Kayla Greer with ACA to learn more. “So, we have had summer interns in the past in various roles and departments of our association, but this year we have an inaugural opportunity for one lucky student, and that is an agricultural communications internship, specifically designed to develop the future of the workforce for the communications world. And we are thrilled to have an Auburn student, her name is Abby Burgess,” said Greer.
“She is from Sneed, Alabama, up in the north part of the state, and she has joined our staff for the summer to integrate into our communications department and help with all of the many projects that we have going on, whether that’s writing for print for the Alabama Cattlemen Magazine, shooting photography for editorial purposes, social media management, podcast production, e-blast distribution, whatever the case may be, we offer a really robust communications platform through our association, and so Abby is getting to dip her toes into a lot of different areas as it pertains to the communications world and profession, and we’re proud to have her on board with us” added Greer.
Greer also mentioned, “She grew up in the Junior Cattlemen’s Association, very active showman in the ring, and she now goes to Auburn University, she’s the vice president of the Collegiate Cattlemen’s Association over there, and a member of the Auburn University Livestock Judging Team, so she has a really strong cattle background, strong connection to our association, and she is going to be a really valuable asset to somebody one day when she finally finishes up at Auburn and enters the workforce, and we hope that we get to be part of that for her in the future.”
Greer finished by saying, “Abby will be joining our staff as we hit the road across the state, whether that is at regional meetings, doing stockyard visits, maybe out on the road shooting photography for the magazine, so if you see her out and about with one of our ACA staffers, be sure to introduce yourself. She is excited to meet producers across the state and kind of get her name out there as well as getting to know people in the industry.”
