USDA’s Ag Statistics Service along with the Foreign Agriculture Service has announced the latest buying of peanuts for the past three months.

That is January through March. The peanut industry is worried that they had lost part of their export market because it was down 25 percent for the last year and now, we are looking now at improvements in the world buying. For these three months the biggest buyer was China.

China has become the number one buyer of peanuts. The total volume was 162,000 tons on this year. The volume last year 127,000 tons.

That is a 27.98 percent increase in volumes of peanuts sold. China number one buying up 40 percent of the market. 40.8 and that is a 300 percent increase over last year.

Number two buyer was Mexico. Mexico bought up 31 percent of the volume and they’re showing they are improving by but they’re down six percent as of today. On Canada they bought up 19.27 percent of the volume and they’re down 21 percent.

So not as many peanuts moving into Canada. That is followed by Japan, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. But the National Peanut Board and the National American Peanut Council are all trying to sell more right now.
