With Election Day today, the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association is encouraging everyone to get out to the polls and we caught up with Erin Beasley with ACA to learn more.
“Well, for months we’ve been leading up to the big Tuesday primary vote and that will take place here on May 19th is the primary voting day for the state of Alabama and so we are encouraging all of our members to get out and vote. Tell your friends to go vote. Very, very important that we do this. It’s kind of the start of what we’ve been building up to,” said Beasley.
“There are numerous statewide elections taking place all the way down to local offices that it will be up for decision tomorrow and so definitely want everyone to get out there, get out to the voting box early. If you are curious as to which candidates on those statewide elections that the beef pack has supported, we do have an email circulating with those names and faces anywhere from the governor down to the commissioner of agriculture and industries and so do want folks to get out and vote. As a reminder, many of these races will likely go to a runoff and so we will be asking folks to go back to the ballot box right around the corner here on June 16th. That will be the runoff election day for any offices that are not determined with a greater than 50 percent vote. Any voter can go to the Alabama Secretary of State’s website and actually pull up a sample ballot. You’ll go on there, you will click whether you’re a Republican or Democrat in terms of how you will vote and you will click on the county in which you reside,” said Beasley.
“That will pull up a sample ballot so you can get an idea of all of the offices anywhere from local to statewide as well as any amendments that will be voted on in the state. So that’s a great way to get a good preview. Go ahead and do some research on candidates and decide who you will cast your vote for. So stay tuned for all the results. We look forward to seeing what the voters decide in terms of our leadership moving forward but this is a big day in the state and something that we’ve been working towards for several months now. Look forward to having everyone go out and vote and exercise your constitutional right,” said Beasley.
