Details of the House Version Farm Bill 2.0

House

The Farm Food and National Security Act of 2026 has passed the U.S. House of Representatives.

The vote 224 to 200. The Farm Food and National Security Act is commonly called a Farm Bill 2.0. It builds on the traditional Farm Bill provisions that were included in the One Big Beautiful Bill that passed earlier this year. Specifically on 2.0, the legislation strengthens the operation of the Marketing Assistance Loan Program by clarifying program authority and ensuring that the program remains fully operational during any further lapses in federal government funding.

These updates reinforce the farm safety net and also provide greater certainty for producers and market participants who rely on the Market Loan Assistance Program for financial stability. In other words, if they close down now, it’ll still operate. The legislation also underwrites the traditional support of agricultural export markets, which remain a top priority for the U.S. peanut industry.

There was allocations of about $200 million annually to support emergency food assistance. That’s another part of the 2.0 Farm Bill. But overall, it’s passed.

That’s good news for farmers. Now they hope they can get into the field and plant since it’s rain.
