The U.S. House of Representatives has passed the Farm, Food and National Security Act of 2026 (H.R. 7567), also known as Farm Bill 2.0, with several amendments to the bill. Agricultural groups are praising the bill’s passage, including the National Pork Producers Council who have been urging the passage due to the included fix to Proposition 12.
The NPPC’s president Rob Brenneman said, “Today’s House farm bill passage is a testament to the power of rural America when we stand up for our farms and future generations with a unified voice. We wholeheartedly thank our champions—House Agriculture Committee Chairman GT Thompson, Rep. Ashley Hinson, and others—for not backing down from the fight for what is right for rural America. He and congressional supporters on both sides of the aisle heard our plea to help America’s pork producers. Now, we look to the Senate to follow suit and pass this farm bill for us and others in agriculture without delay.”
U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman John Boozman issued a statement after the passage saying, “House passage of a bipartisan Farm Bill 2.0 is a testament to Chairman GT Thompson’s strong leadership, and I congratulate him on this significant achievement. This is an important step toward updating long-overdue policies that support our farm families and strengthen rural communities. We’ve put more farm in the farm bill through the Working Families Tax Cuts, and this legislation builds on that success. I remain committed to working with my colleagues in the Senate to continue this momentum and deliver Farm Bill 2.0 to the president’s desk to be signed into law. I look forward to releasing legislative text in the coming weeks.”
