With the passing of Georgia Congressman David Scott, who served on the House Agriculture Committee, he is being remembered for his time in service. Representative Dusty Johnson shared his thoughts on Scott’s passion for serving the people of Georgia.

“There are not enough gentlemen in Congress, and David Scott and I had profound policy differences, but I never once, not for one moment, doubted the goodness in his heart and his love of country,” said Johnson.

“And all too often, I’m left wondering about the motivations of my colleagues, whether they are here to be political celebrities or to try to secure, you know, their next job. I never had those doubts with David Scott. I knew that every single day he came to the Capitol, and he wanted to honor his Lord, serve his country, and fight for the people of Georgia, and frankly, anyone who was in production agriculture. He was a remarkable leader, and there are too few of him in Congress,” said Johnson.

Congressman Scott passed away at the age of 80 last week, serving 23 years in the House of Representatives serving Georgia’s 13th congressional district. A memorial service is scheduled for today at 11 am for Congressman David Scott and he will lie in state at the Georgia State Capitol until 5 pm.
