Wildfires Creating Major Problems in Georgia and Florida

Wildfires, the major problems in the southeast corner of Georgia and along the Georgia Florida line.

One of the largest fires, the Pineland Road wildfire, has grown to consume 31,000 acres near Fargo, Georgia, about 120 miles northeast of Tallahassee, Florida. It’s only 10 percent contained as of early this week. The Highway 82 fire is in Atkinson County, Georgia and they said that it has set 5,531 acres ablaze and is only 15 percent contained.

Brian Kemp declared a state of emergency in Georgia for 91 counties in the state due to the wildfires and also published office of the governor has warned people to do not set any kind of fires. The fire basically doubled over the weekend, according to Brantley County Manager Joe Cason. He said it is a dynamic fire event that will be impacted by the wind and will be an impact for a long time.

The National Weather Service said that there is some rain in the forecast and maybe some on Wednesday of this week, but the wildfires are causing havoc in Georgia. It’s out of the peanut belt, but it is a major impact for families in that area.
