The Alabama Cattlemen’s Association Foundation is providing a record amount of scholarships to students this year and we caught up with Erin Beasley with ACA to learn more.
Beasley said,” Well this week we are honored to have our Alabama Cattlemen’s Foundation Scholarship Banquet. This annual event takes place to award all of the scholarship winners for the year and so I’m very proud to report that we will be giving out over $155,000 this year which is a record for the foundation. We’ll have well over 100 kids and their families in attendance to the scholarship banquet and these are all made possible through the sale of the vanity tag which is the cowboy tag for the foundation. Those proceeds go towards a number of the funds that are used for awarding scholarships. In addition, we also have a number of families that have endowed scholarships.”
“I think we’re up in over 10 families now and so all of these efforts have led to the expansion in the Cattlemen’s Foundation in terms of activities as well as the amount of scholarship money that is being dispensed every year and so we really look forward to this each year. It’s a chance to honor these kids. It’s some of our best and brightest and many of them are certainly high school seniors moving on to the next step albeit trade school, community college, or four-year university. We also have a number of kids that will be winning scholarships that are currently enrolled in college and then we also have some postgraduate scholarships that are for students that are studying agricultural law and rural medicine as well as veterinary medicine,” said Beasley.
