The Georgia Cattlemen’s Association will be hosting their annual convention this weekend at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry. We caught up with David Huddleston, President-Elect of GCA to learn more.
Huddleston said, “We have set a schedule that’s very in tune to our educational matters. Like I said, within three Cattlemen’s College events, we have Curt Lacy coming in talking about kind of ag economics and that type of thing within the cattle industry. And then we’ve got Dr. Dan coming in out of Kansas to be speaking. And then we’ve got actually our own Georgia Department of Ag will be doing one of the Cattlemen’s College events, basically introducing the law enforcement division amongst the producers that some may not be aware of, that they do a great program. Our legislative update will be, like I said, Commissioner Harper coming in giving us a state update. A lot of times you want a keynote speaker just kind of, you know, bring in something different, some excitement, just to entertain the crowd for a fun night. And we got Troy Landry from Swamp People coming in.”
“Basically, we have filled the expo hall with 77 vendors showing their products for the weekend. But then also, we’ve actually got some additional add-ons that will be doing some large equipment on the outside. And then, like I said, we’ve had a great turnout with attendees coming in. So, it’s going to be a Friday, Saturday intense event, a lot of great information, but looking forward to seeing all the cattle producers and just, you know, just having a great reunion thing this year’s homecoming. That’s kind of what we’re looking at. We’re just going to have a homecoming, a good reunion, and just enjoy everybody’s company,” said Huddleston.
