It looks like the peanut industry is going to get a three million dollar grant.

It’s a two-year implementation window and because of export promotion program. The Trump administration announced this week the recipients of the America First trade promotion program. The grant was 285 million dollars but only 165 million was awarded at this time.

And they said the peanut industry and the American Peanut Council will get a three-million-dollar two-year implementation grant. APC, the American Peanut Council, is ranked number 18 in the highest funded organization in the nation and receives more funding than any other similar situated groups. The APC worked very hard on its grant application, including instituting numerous changes this year.

The continued improvements gave them a chance to get increased funding. According to Luke Blasenstein, the CEO said one in every four peanuts end up in the export market. Over the last decade, global peanut imports have grown from 32 percent, while U.S. peanut exports have grown by six percent.

As the new president, Luke said, I’m proud of what the APC team has done and look forward to working with the various organizations to increase the export of U.S. peanuts.
