The Alabama Cattlemen’s Association is headed to Washington DC this week to engage with legislators on Captiol Hill and we caught up with Erin Beasley with the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association to learn more.

Beasley said, “Excited to take our officer team this week back to the Hill. We’re going for our annual fly-in with the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, so we’ll be one of several affiliates that are in town and moving around on the Hill doing both House and Senate visits with our congressional leaders. Always look forward to this time to meet not only with them, but their staff members as well. There’s always priorities that need to be spoken about, whether it be at the federal level or even some state issues that are taking place, and so looking forward to having Wyatt Sasser, our president, our president-elect Randy Moody, and our vice president Jim Miller that will be joining me.”

“Some of the things that we’re looking to discuss is going to be the Senate passage of the Pet and Livestock Protection Act, which includes the gray wolf delisting. That’s something that’s been a priority for National Cattlemen’s for some time. Also looking to have some conversations about the passage of the ESA Amendment Act, and another big thing will be of course the discussion around Farm Bill 2.0. As we know, a lot was taken care of with respect to the livestock industry in the one big beautiful bill last year, but that Farm Bill 2.0 does include some provisions in it that are important to us as well, and so we look forward to the conversations. And so this is always just a great time for our leadership, our current leaders, to get a good taste of the federal legislative process, and we also always enjoy getting to have that face-to-face contact with our congressional leaders,” said Beasley.
