The Alabama Cattlemen’s Association connects with the cattle industry through various efforts and one of those is through visits at the Alabama stockyards. We caught up with Michael Smith with the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association to learn more.
Smith said, “We are kind of getting back in the normal swing of things here at the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association and one of my roles is to go out and travel and visit with not only our stockyard owners but our producers that are there marketing their cattle and so I was able to get out kind of back on a spring run here.”
I made my way to Cullman Stockyard there in north central Alabama. Also made my way to Fort Payne Livestock in the northeast corner of the state and also to Valley Stockyard which is up around Moulton, Alabama so kind of the northwest side of the state. So yeah, it’s been a good spring getting out and just kind of getting reconnected with our whole market in general. You know, the folks that are taking their cattle to market and the folks that provide those facilities,” said Smith.
