Veterinarians across the southeast will be coming together this weekend for the Southeastern Food And Farm Veterinary Summit and we caught up with Dr. Keri Riddick with the Georgia Veterinary Medical Association to learn more.
Dr. Riddick said, “So this weekend starting on Friday, March 6th, we have the Southeastern Food and Farm Veterinary Summit and this is an annual conference that brings together large animal production veterinarians, mixed animal veterinarians, and some agricultural vendors and exhibitors all together and we’re going to meet at Calloway Gardens here in Pine Mountain. We’re going to have several different topics.”
When asked about what the attendees could expect from this year’s conference, Riddick said, “One, we’re going to talk about vaccinating the beef cow herd, so how we’re balancing immunity as well as fertility. We’re going to have some discussions on pinkeye as well as enteric, which is kind of the GI diseases. And then we’re also, we have a great panel that we have our Georgia State Veterinarian as well as the Alabama State Veterinarian bring some current updates to our veterinarians. I think this year we’ll probably be talking a lot about the New World screw worm, as we know everybody’s keeping watch on that. And then we also have kind of our famous Southeastern State Veterinarian panel and we’re joined by state veterinarians from Florida, North Carolina, Mississippi, and Tennessee, so they can all kind talk about things that are impacting the southern southeastern regions.
