Florida Ag Commissioner Announces 2025 Award Winners

Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson announced two award winners this past week. Presented annually since 1994 and highlighting environmentally innovative growers and ranchers who share a commitment to protecting and preserving Florida’s resources, the 2025 Agricultural-Environmental Leadership Award winner was presented to Wish Farms based in Plant City, Florida. Founded in 1922, Wish Farms is a fourth generation family owned company that grows and markets strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and pine berries. The company has implemented innovative farming practices to reduce waste, conserve water and protect natural resources.

Commissioner Simpson said, “Wish Farms exemplifies the innovation and stewardship that make Florida agriculture a national leader. Their commitment to sustainable farming practices, conservation, and environmental responsibility ensures that future generations will continue to enjoy the high-quality produce our state is known for. It is an honor to recognize them as the 2025 winner of the Agricultural-Environmental Leadership Award.”

The 2025 Woman of the Year in Agriculture Award was presented to Reba Y. Mazak, a fifth-generation Florida Cattle rancher from Sumter County. Reba and her late husband Paul built Mazak Ranch into a thriving cattle operation with locations in Florida and Texas. Additionally, Reba has been active in Florida Cattlewomen for over 40 years and served as its president in 2004 and she served as the president of the American National Cattle Women in 2022. She is passionate about mentoring youth in agriculture, and she enjoys ranching, hunting and spending time with her daughters and grandsons.

Commissioner Simpson said, “Reba Y. Mazak embodies the resilience, dedication, and innovation that define Florida agriculture. Her lifelong commitment to ranching, advocacy, and mentorship has strengthened our agricultural community and ensured a bright future for the next generation. It is an honor to recognize her as the 2025 Woman of the Year in Agriculture.”
