The Georgia Peanut Commission (GPC) reminds growers and industry leaders to mark their calendars for next year’s Georgia Peanut Farm Show and Conference, scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 18, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the University of Georgia Tifton Campus Conference Center in Tifton, Georgia.

The show is free and open to all producers and industry representatives wishing to attend.

Maddie Frost, project coordinator, farm and field services for GPC, talked about what attendees can expect at next year’s show.

“Our annual farm show is coming up in January 2024. You can expect to see some of your same vendors. It’ll be hopefully a lot of the same people. These vendors that we’ll have this year, they’re bringing new products that could be beneficial to our industry. We’ll have some seed seminar meetings and a lot of educational stuff for our growers.”

The GPC expects about 1,500 to attend the show. They will have the chance to visit with almost 100 agribusinesses and organizations in the peanut and agricultural industry. Farmers can earn private and commercial pesticide applicator certification. There will also be a University of Georgia Peanut Production Seminar and industry-wide sponsored Peanut Seed Seminar.

“All of these seed seminar and peanut meetings that we’re having at the farm show are tools that the farmer can take to use to better their production, their yield and things of that nature,” Frost said. “It’s all heavily focused on the research that our UGA Peanut Team does. We are very grateful to have them. They’re phenomenal to work with. They just work really hard to provide growers with some updated information that will help them on their farms.”

At the close of Thursday, there will be nearly $10,000 in door prizes presented to farmers, as well as a Grand Door Prize, vendor products, certificates and equipment.
