The Georgia Cotton Commission (GCC) encourages producers to mark their calendars for the annual statewide field days that will be held in conjunction with University of Georgia (UGA) Extension.

Taylor Sills, executive director of the GCC, discusses the benefits of growers attending these events. They will be held at various Extension centers in Georgia.

“There’s a lot of activity for growers to get involved and see what kind of work is being done on cotton by folks around the corner from them at these various research and Extension centers. They can interact with these professionals who are always looking for collaborators or new ideas,” Sills said.

The next UGA field day will be held at the Southeast Georgia Research and Education Center in Midville, Georgia, on Aug. 10. The Southwest Georgia Research and Education Center in Plains, will host a field day on Aug. 24. The annual Cotton and Peanut Field Day, which is jointly sponsored by the GCC, Georgia Peanut Commission and UGA, is scheduled for Sept. 7 in Tifton. The Northeast Georgia Field Day, which will be at the J. Phil Campbell Sr. Research and Education Center in Watkinsville, is slated for Sept. 28.

“For more information on these (field days), you can go to our website and find all of these events listed. Also, contact your county Extension office for more information,” Sills said.
