There’s been very little progress in both corn and soybean planting across the country so far this season. Gary Crawford has more details.

Corn and Soybean Planting Slow by Any Measure

In Alabama, corn planted as of this past Sunday was at 87 percent, which compares to 95 percent last year and the 5-year average is 93 percent. Corn emerged was at 76 percent, which compares to 87 percent last year and the 5-year average is 82 percent. Soybeans planted was at 12 percent. Last year at this time it was at 16 percent while the 5-year average is 17 percent.

In Georgia, corn planted as of this past Sunday was at 96 percent, which compares to 95 percent last year and the 5-year average is 96 percent. Corn emerged was at 90 percent, which compares to 88 percent last year and the 5-year average is 92 percent. Soybeans planted was at 18 percent. That compares to 20 percent last year while the 5-year average is only 16 percent.
