Week 4 of the 2022 Florida Legislative Session has wrapped up and in her weekly report Mary Ann Hooks, director of the University of Florida/IFAS (UF/IFAS) Government Affairs, said they are pleased to report that their budget priorities are alive and moving forward.
The Senate and the House Appropriations Sub-committees released the first run of the budget numbers, and UF/IFAS looks good in the Senate as many of their budget requests received full or partial funding. The House budget also contains funds for many of their projects.
Hooks noted they still have a lot of work to do, but it is a good budget year and they are optimistic that the final budget will be in their favor.
Florida Cattlemen’s Association (FCA) Director of Governmental Affairs Sam Ard explains it was a good week for the Rural and Family Lands Protection Program.
The Rural and Family Lands Protection Program protects Florida’s landscape, wildlife habitat and natural resources while allowing agricultural operations and production to continue.
