The Georgia Peanut Commission (GPC) reminds farmers that the Georgia Peanut Farm Show and Conference is scheduled for Jan. 19-20, 2022, at the University of Georgia (UGA) Tifton Campus Conference Center in Tifton, Georgia.

Next year’s show is extended to allow more meet and greet time for farmers, says Hannah Jones, project coordinator-research and education at the GPC. The event will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 19 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., and on Thursday, Jan. 20, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

“We decided to make it a day and a half show just to allow farmers the opportunity to visit longer or see things they want to spend more time with,” Jones said.

Jones said more than 100 exhibitors and around 1,200 attendees visit the farm show every year. It provides valuable time for growers to visit with vendors and hear about research and developments during the UGA Peanut Production Seminar and industry-wide sponsored Peanut Seed Seminar.

“That allows them to meet with different vendors and companies as they’re trying to get their plans together for planting, which comes up shortly after the Farm Show in early spring. That’s when they’ll be getting ready to plant again,” Jones said. “We just hope to be the conduit between the growers and the companies out here that support our industry.

“We pull growers from all over the peanut-producing counties in Georgia. I feel like we’ll have good representation again with east Georgia growers and west Georgia growers and even some from the southwestern corner will come up.”
