The Georgia Cotton Commission (GCC) reminds cotton producers who are interested in serving on the Georgia Agriculture Commodity Commission, the deadline to receive nominations is Thursday, May 30.

To serve on a Commodity Commission, a person must be a producer of that commodity, commit to attend meetings and represent the producers of that commodity.

Those interested in learning more or to obtain a nomination form, see the Georgia Cotton Commission website, says executive director Taylor Sills.

“All of Georgia’s agricultural commodity commissions are made up of growers of that specific commodity. The commissions undertake programs of research, promotion and education on behalf of the producers of that commodity,” Sills said. “I believe that we have two spots of our seven that are potentially coming open in 2021. Anyone that’s interested, go to the Georgia Department of Agriculture website. I believe we have a link to the applications for anyone interested on our website.

Term-expiring board members are also eligible for reappointment.
