Producers from around the Southeast are encouraged to compete in the 2020 Southeastern Hay Contest.

Producers from around the Southeast are encouraged to compete in the 2020 Southeastern Hay Contest. Submitting samples to this premier forage quality contest gives you the opportunity to prove your hay is the best. The contest is open to hay or baleage producers across 13 states, including Alabama, Florida and Georgia. Entries must be submitted by the farm where the forage was grown, and they must include the signature of your local County Agent to verify authenticity.

There are seven different categories, Warm Season Perennial Grass Hay, Alfalfa Hay, Perennial Peanut Hay, Cool Season Perennial Grass Hay, Mixed Annual Grass or Other Hay, Grass Baleage and Legume Baleage. Cash awards will go to the top 3 places in each category.

The grand prize winner, or person with the overall highest RFQ, will receive the choice of the use of a new Massey Ferguson RK Series rotary rake or a new Massey Ferguson DM Series Professional disc mower for the 2021 hay production season and $1000 cash.

The deadline to enter is September 1 and winners will be announced on the first day of the annual Sunbelt Ag Expo, October 20 in Moultrie, Georgia.
