Growing World Record Vegetables
I don’t know who keeps up with it or how they find out, but I enjoy reading about the world’s biggest vegetables and where they are grown. The latest one I saw a farmer in England had produced an onion that weighed sixteen and a half pounds. I wonder if he sold it?
A farmer here at home grew a string bean that measures 4 feet 3 inches. Think about that now. That one bean might have fed a whole family. The record for the biggest cabbage still belongs to an American grower. 127 pounds. Now, these vegetables are not on file at the Guinness Book of World Records recorded. But, they have never been challenged. How about an 18-pound carrot, or a 21-pound beet. That one was grown in England.
