Celebrating June as Mango Month

For the whole month of June we shall celebrate the almighty Mango. After all, they are one of the most popular fruits in the world.

Along with their sumptuous tropical flavor, they are packed full of nutrition. Mangos contain over 20 different vitamins and minerals. One cup of mangos is just 100 calories, and is fat free, sodium free and cholesterol free.

They were first grown in India over 5,000 years ago. The seeds of Mangos have traveled with humans from Asia to the Middle East, East Africa and South America beginning around 300 or 400 A.D. Mangos can be grown successfully in California, Hawaii, Florida and Puerto Rico. Florida is the largest producer of Mangoes in the United States. So take some time this month to get to know more about Mangos and incorporate them into your daily diet. One valuable online resource is Mango.org.
