Cathy Isom tells us about a national call to action to reduce, reuse and recycle. That’s coming up on This Land of Ours.
Today This Land of Ours celebrates America Recycles Day. For the past 20 years, on November 15th, millions of people across the U-S take part in activities to raise awareness about recycling and the purchasing of recycled products.
The benefits of recycling are tremendous: it cuts down the amount of waste sent to landfills, reduces pollution, conserves natural resources, saves energy and money, and reduces greenhouse gasses.
Unfortunately, while the EPA estimates that 75 percent of the American waste stream is recyclable, we only recycle about 30 percent of it.
Here’s how you can observe: Recycle, buy recycled goods and help teach others the benefits of recycling and continue to do so each day. Be sure and use the hashtag #AmericaRecyclesDay when posting on social media.
